Rev. Rebecca Spooner, LPC, NCC

Rebecca is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC). She is also an ordained Presbyterian minister.

She received her Master of Science in Counseling from the University of Central Arkansas and her Master of Divinity from Princeton Theological Seminary, where she also worked as a chaplain at the New Jersey State Mental Hospital in Trenton.

She pastored congregations for more than 13 years and has been licensed as a therapist since 2007. Beginning in 2006, she worked with Vera Lloyd Presbyterian Home & Family Services to establish the Laurence Schmidt Center (LSC) – the first counseling center in the state specifically for clergy. The LSC eventually provided services to all persons regardless of their religious background.

Working with the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, Rebecca has begun a training process to enable to her to better serve children and adolescents who have experienced trauma. She has also received training in Sand Trays, a form of Play Therapy appropriate for all ages. In addition, Rebecca is a certified EMDR therapist.

Rebecca works well with all populations and issues; especially depression and anxiety, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and childhood sexual abuse. She also works very well with clergy.

In 2013, she established the Wellspring Renewal Center, with a vision for creating a welcoming, safe space where healing happens. She believes in honest, authentic communication and using evidence-based treatments to provide the best care possible.

“Counseling (both as a client and psychotherapist) has freed me to be a happier, more liberated individual; and it is a gift to facilitate that same hope and healing with others.”
